1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use TaxRollback:

  • Account information: email address, name, and password when you create an account.
  • Property data: property addresses you search for, which we use to retrieve publicly available records from county appraisal districts (CADs).
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interactions with the Service, collected via analytics tools.
  • Protest outcomes: if you choose to report your hearing result, we collect the outcome to improve our algorithms and community intelligence features.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Bank account numbers or routing numbers
  • Credit card numbers — all payment processing is handled by Stripe, and card details never touch our servers
  • Driver's license or government ID numbers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Service, including property analysis, evidence generation, and protest preparation tools
  • Generate evidence packets using comparable sales and appraisal data
  • Improve our algorithms, analysis accuracy, and product features
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, protest deadline reminders, hearing updates)
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Anonymized and aggregated hearing outcomes may be used for community intelligence features, such as county-level success rates and average savings estimates. This data cannot be traced back to individual users or properties.

We may share data with service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., Stripe for payments, Supabase for data storage, PostHog for analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and property data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance).

Anonymized, aggregated data (such as protest outcome statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify individual users.

6. Cookies

We use the following cookies and similar technologies:

  • Session cookies: managed by Supabase for authentication and session management. These are essential for the Service to function.
  • Analytics cookies: PostHog analytics to understand how users interact with the Service and improve the product. You can opt out of analytics tracking in your account settings.

We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with advertising networks.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Export your data: download your property analyses, evidence packets, and account data.
  • Delete your data: request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Correct your data: update inaccurate personal information through your account settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@taxrollback.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
